Here’s hoping that everyone has been enjoying the beginning of 2017. The end of last year was certainly a difficult one for us film fans, as we lost both Star Wars’ Carrie Fisher and her mother, icon Debbie Reynolds just one day apart. This followed the loss of so many other iconic actors, ranging from Alan Rickman (one of the best voices in the business) to Robert Vaughn (the last living member of The Magnificent Seven), and many, many more. Thankfully, we have their work to remind us of their amazing talents. Yet, it was not all doom and gloom – it was exciting to be able to witness two milestone birthdays, as two members of Hollywood royalty, Kirk Douglas and Olivia de Havilland, both turned one hundred this past year.
To bring in the New Year, I have added a new feature to the Filmizon website. Called The 8-Up List, it highlights the films that I’ve rated 8.0 or higher to give you an idea of the motion pictures that I truly cherish. It is also another superb tool for you to track down movies that you may be interested in reading about (just click on it and it will bring you to the column). You will also find the IMDb (Internet Movie Database) rating next to mine, providing you with a measuring stick for how others view the films that I have reviewed. Attached is a link for you to check it out right now, but you will also find it (from now on) on the menu bar, just above the highlighted article at the top of the main page. Without further ado, here it is: http://filmizon.com/the-8-up-list/
I will also tell you that there are some great celebrity interviews coming up in the near future. From rock stars (The Cult guitarist Billy Duffy) and Hollywood celebrities (Hayley Atwell), to up and coming filmmakers (the team behind the Tribeca Audience Award winning film Here Alone) and hockey hall of famers (Guy Lafleur), there will certainly be something for all of you. I’m just scratching the surface with this teaser, so make sure to check back often for more in depth reviews and interviews. Here’s to another great year of movies. Now, let’s get watching!
