Boy, how time flies when you’re wearing a CAPE, or to be more specific, enjoying yourself at the Cornwall and Area Pop Event, which, like all good things, has returned once more. . . and is excitingly celebrating its tenth anniversary this year!!!
Attracting thousands of pumped up visitors on a rather dreary Saturday, April 26th, 2025, the locale was joyously cheerful thanks to the boisterous crowd filling the place. . . with a Sunday still to come for those in the Cornwall, Montreal, and Ottawa region.
Packed with people of all ages. . . a good number of them spotted in glorious costumes (ranging from Deadpool and a plethora of vampires, to intriguing original creations), the Benson Centre attendees were seen throughout the venue exploring its many varied booths. . . fans of all kinds adding to their collections with retro toys, countless Funko pops, some original artwork, comic books and literature new and old. . . and even some fresh popcorn from The Happy Popcorn Company. For those of you who know me, you won’t be surprised to discover that I spent some time at the Rolled & Folded Movie Posters booth – make sure to check out their Facebook page to see if they’re coming to a location near you if you can’t make it to CAPE.
Without further ado, it is about time to highlight the celebrities that have graced Cornwall with their presence this 2025 weekend. The founders and organizers of this now ten year old event, Randy Sauve and Carol Grant, were able to ring in the festivities with two of the stars from the ultra popular Crave show Letterkenny. Running an impressive twelve seasons, attendees Michelle Mylett and Dylan Playfair (featured in the headlining photo) clocked in at a staggering eighty-one episodes. . . meaning that they’ve both been in every episode of the series! As for all of those Big Bang Theory fans out there, Brian Posehn (the memorable Bert Kibbler) is also in the house. Last but certainly not least, Melissa McIntyre and Mike Lobel of Degrassi: The Next Generation fame, joined the party. With these slightly smaller events, it is safe to say that everyone was so gracious throughout the day, with each celeb taking the time to pose for photos and personalize some autographs for the many in attendance.
With ten years under their belts, one might imagine that the magic is running out. . . but, judging from this Saturday, the first decade looks like it could simply be a springboard for a much larger sequel decade! So, if you’re in the area, figure out a way to get to CAPE before you miss it, and, if for some reason you can’t, start planning for year eleven now, as I’ll reveal that this is my favourite number. . . so I’ve got a good feeling about it!
