CAPE Eleven

Wow, another year, another CAPE. . . also known as the Cornwall and Area Pop Event, which celebrated its impressive 11th anniversary on April 25th and 26th of 2026. Furthering the celebration of all things pop culture – think film, television, animation, cos-play, comic books, video games, and so very much more, it is hard to believe that it has now brought more than a decade’s worth of memorable fun.

Drawing thousands from in and outside the city of Cornwall (good luck finding a parking spot!) for the two day event, the Benson Centre was packed with joyous people exploring the diverse activities, whether it be perusing the many collectibles found throughout, the original artwork painted by the vendors, purchasing some tasty delectables (just think of the Happy Popcorn Company), or perhaps chatting with some of the very approachable guests.

With an eclectic array of celebrities procured by organizers Randy Sauve and Carol Grant for fans to choose from, people had a chance to meet with Peyton List (immediate right) of Smallville, Mad Men, Star Trek: Picard, and Gotham fame (to name but a few), while the very Canadiana guys from Letterkenny – Tyler Johnston (also think Supernatural) and Evan Stern (The Void) were having plenty of fun (below right), then for horror fanatics Terrifier 2 stars Sarah Voigt and Casey Hartnett (seen top right) were bringing the gore factor, and for some family friendly content, Paw Patrol voice actors Justin Paul Kelly (The Umbrella Academy – seen bottom right) and Scott McCord, as well as Melissa Altro (bringing back memories from Pippi Longstocking and Arthur) were also in attendance. Look for future Star Pick interviews with all of the names listed above coming in the future.

And, I’ve got to say, they were all having a great time! Hartnett happily exclaimed, “It’s Canada – everyone is so welcoming!”, while Voigt similarly echoed that Canadian conventions were always their favourite. As for both Johnston and Stern, they said that Cornwall in a way reminded them of the homey, welcoming Sudbury – which is where they shot Letterkenny from 2016-2023. Meanwhile, Justin Paul Kelly added that the intimate, smaller event allows for great interaction, giving everyone a chance to get to know each other’s names and actually spend some time with fans. It is also worth noting that Tyler Johnston reminded us to donate blood through Canadian Blood Services. . . as it can make a very big difference in helping save lives here in Canada (feel free to click on the attached link to join Team Lynn on Canada Blood Services, which Tyler is involved with: Sign in or create an account | MyAccount for Team Lynn).

Adding an eleventh successful notch to their ever growing belt, one has to wonder what surprises Randy and Carol have in store for next year’s CAPE. It doesn’t seem like there is any doubt that whatever it might be, it is going to be an exciting time. . . especially considering their fantastic track record. So, don’t clown around, make sure to add next year’s spectacular supernatural event to your phone calendar today.
